- Water is depicted as a simple upside-down triangle. It is viewed as cold and wet and is associated with human intuition.
- Earth is depicted as an upside-down triangle struck with a horizontal line. It represented physical movements and sensations.
- Space is depicted as an upward triangle and a downward triangle that overlap, or a six-pointed star. This symbolizes the union of opposites, and it is considered by some to be the symbolic epitome of “as above, so below.” The six-pointed star is about two opposite pyramids. They cannot coexist without the between. Time and space are creating reality at the edge of the balance. Space always takes and time always shares.
- Air is depicted as an upward triangle struck with a horizontal line. Air is the opposite of Earth. It’s associated with heat and wetness and is viewed as a life-giving force
- Fire is depicted as an upward triangle. It is the opposite of water in its depiction and it represents hot and dry.
